This is a new edition of "Reuben Shupp's First Short Story Collection."
It had to be a joke. A bad one. What other reason could someone have to send Alex a picture of the clown with the letters N-E-X-T written across it. Just a joke. Even if it was written in blood. What's the punchline? Find out in “A Collection of Short Stories or Tales.”
When Asa finds himself (accidentally) in another (alien) realm (Emerald Island), he realized the amulet that propelled here does not work in reverse. Are his survival skills and wits sufficient to keep him alive while he finds another way to travel home, or will he be forced to live out his life in this dangerous, alien world? Find out in a “Collection of Short Stories or Tales.”

One of my favorite surprises is discovering a new author. This was certainly the case with this collection of short stories. Introspective and thoughtful, the book consists of intimate short stories...reminding me of Capote's Music for Chameleons The following reviews are from “Reuben Shupp’s First Short Story Collection.”

A lovely set of four short stories that are charming and enjoyable. The last one, The Traveller, has a (Bob) Dylanesque quality about it, while the others are just as entertaining, and enigmatic with their many references and intimations. Well worth a read – it’s certainly a good way to get into short stories.

A nice mix of four short stories, each different and yet each plays with the idea of self discovery in slightly different ways.
Easy to read and quite enjoyable, well edited and the writing style is consistent throughout.
Shupp’s use of imagery and allusion are clever, creating a mysterious tale that leaves the reader guessing and I look forward to reading more of this authors work in future.
