Awesome read! Each short story had me and my husband so engaged we felt we were the characters or were with them. The author pulled us in to the moments, the era and made us feel everything with the characters. We long for the future writing from this author. Thank you.

This collection of short stories is an interesting look at the life of the "country folk" from Langley, AR. I don't recall seeing a date anywhere that gave a time frame for these stories. However, no one had cars and everyone walks to school. Trips to "town" were once a week on foot or mule as well. I appreciate how the author acknowledges the hardships of the individuals but also shows how they found the silver lining as well. This was a quick read but some of the content was difficult to read.

I was deeply engrossed in these stories and interested in the lives of the people. I’m always amazed and intrigued by life in earlier times. These take place in the earlier part of the 1900s. This book is wonderfully written. I greatly enjoyed it. The subject matter is tough at times but is true to life and deeply touched me.

Rich detail in the telling of the story. The depth of emotion and heartache is palpable. I highly recommend this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars this book is based on true stories which are much more meaningful to me than fiction
