This whole case had been a disaster from the beginning. Kurt, Levi, Nick and Gage have all resolved their cases and he had no leads at all. He'd even had Kurt and Levi helping him for a few weeks, and while they'd helped with the patrols, they'd still not been able to make progress. This case was a joke. How the hell was Trent supposed to resolve it when there was no pattern, no link? Everyone else had managed to save their cities except for him, Jack and Sam. Hell, even Gage had been able to pull one out of the hat. How the hell did he manage that while Grace had been imprisoned and Kurt and Levi had been out of their brains fighting for her release? It was time to move on. Initially, joining The Brotherhood had given Trent a sense of achievement, but it was fast wearing off. The honeymoon was over and he was starting to see everything with new eyes, especially compared to life in L.A.. Surrounded by wealth, fame and a smorgasbord of beautiful women, it was getting harder and harder to resist the urge to leave and find his fame another way. At least in the film industry he had the potential to earn a fortune. It wasn’t like working for The Brotherhood paid enough to warrant the amount of danger he faced. The arrival of Grace and her entourage, however, made Trent pause. She wasn’t fame, she wasn’t fortune, but damn, she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever met. A single smile from her was worth all the tea in China. Maybe Trent could hang around a little longer. A final case, a last hurrah, and maybe, just maybe, he’d win the woman of his dreams.
